We just celebrated Easter Sunday which is the final day of the Semana Santa celebration in Costa Rica. Semana Santa is a week long celebration that commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. In the main cities next to the capitol they celebrate with processions and different reenactments of the events leading up to the persecution and resurrection of their Christ according to their Catholic literature and tradition. Some nationals stay in the city while many come to the beach where they tend to celebrate with less processions and more parties.
These days we try to avoid the processions and the parties and just celebrate with our family and a few friends. For the girls that meant a Saturday trip to the local salon and for the boys that meant another surf session.
Sunday morning after making some breakfast and looking around the house for Easter eggs we headed down to the beach to play in the tide pools. Most of the crowds head back to the city on Easter Sunday so we had the beach pretty much to ourselves. I decided to grab the GoPro that Lyndsey’s brother lent us to take a little footage.
Lyndsey is seven months pregnant now, and well let’s just say it is beginning to show. Our new little one is taking up a lot of space in there, kicking and rocking throughout the day. We can’t wait to meet her and if we didn’t know any better we might think that she was anxious to meet us.
Eli’s asked Lyndsey if she would help him write a letter to the Easter Bunny, apparently he was curious how the Easter bunny would get by our dogs.
It is not a holiday around this house if we don’t make holiday related cookies.
Since chocolate melts so fast, the Easter bunny delivers more art supplies and toys to kids in the tropics, he also gives kids that live next the beach buckets instead of baskets….go figure 😉
The girls decided to have a a little salon day on Saturday for a holiday treat.
Isabel was determined to find as many eggs as she could
Tora decided to do a little fishing at the tide pools.
Seven months down, two more to go before we meet this new little one.
