We really missed being with our families this holiday season but fortunately for us we have some special friends that we were able to spend this time of year with in the jungle. Christmas in the jungle is a bit different than what most of are use to from the states.
We didn’t have snow or a large warming fire in the fire place but this Christmas had its own special features that we will never forget. We listened to traditional Christmas music and made gifts for each other, cookies for our neighbors and friends and let the jungle fill in the missing gaps. It started out with the family waking up with the roosters and the monkeys and heading down stairs to a tree full of gifts for the kids.
After a wonderful breakfast we headed down to the beach to spend some time with some close friends then back up the house to start getting ready for a Christmas Dinner. The horses from neighboring farm decided to make their way down the hill to our house to wish us a happy holiday along with some parrots, toucans and a family of Howler monkeys.
We had a potluck style Christmas Dinner up at the farm table with friends and their families. As we ate a wonderful meal on a hill overlooking the ocean we reflected on all the wonderful things we have and the blessings that our lives continue to overflow with.
When we sit back and reflect on how special our lives are and how fortunate and blessed we already are we can’t help but think about our extended families and how much we miss them and want to see them.
