This past week was so nice out that Ricky and I spent alot of time working in the yard. I am so glad that spring is here and summer is right around the corner. I kind of feel like I missed out on it last year in way because I was so preoccupied with my [...] Eli and I have been attending a Baby Sign LanguageClass for the past 5 weeks at the Harold J. Ballard Parent Center in Old Town. We go once or twice a week and the class is around 3 hours long. Typically we sing songs, do a little dancing, play with toys, story time, share our [...] Well we almost lost a chicken yesterday late afternoon at dusk. We had our friend Josh over and him and I were both reading books in our living room while Lyndsey toyed around with some chores in the back room. All of the sudden we all heard the loudest screech and cry we have heard [...] This may or may not be interesting to you, but it still blows my mind. That is how food obsessed my 6 year old Lab is. I can’t believe that it still blows my mind, I mean he has bean this way from the first day we had him at 3 months old. I remember [...] We borrowed a friends video camera for the store and decided to practice filming using the hens as our subject. All three Chickens are laying eggs. Bringing us to about 15 eggs a week. It took us a couple of days to figure this out because Dorothy, the Golden Laced Wyandotte, is not nearly as vocal as the other two hens. So when she started going through the egg laying ritual we didn’t quite recognize [...] We are proud to announce that our Rhode Island Red, Rose, has become a Hen. Yesterday morning, right after we got our dog back, we noticed that Rose was acting a little more peculiar than what is normal for her. The other two chicks were free ranging around the yard, while she scratched and yelped [...] We added a few extra perches in the chicken coop so that the chickens could get off of the ground if they wanted. Every morning we catch them hanging out on their new perches. They like to sit up as high as they can and cluck away at each other. So far they [...] So far all of our garden plots are doing great. The celebrity tomatoes in our first plot are getting huge. Our second (new) garden plot is taking off as well. It is hard to believe that we planted it only two weeks ago. We have a pumpkin plant that is taking over the entire [...] |
