Cactus Blooms

Our cactus starting budding a couple of weeks ago and most of those buds turned out to be flowers! When the little buds started to appear we got a little nervous because last year those tiny little buds rapidly turned into huge cactus parts over a couple of weeks. It literally doubles the size of the cactus overnight. We let it go and look what we got instead, cute little flowers all over.

Ricky picked a couple of pieces that you can supposedly eat when it’s young and tender, although he forgot to wear gloves and was picking thorns out of his hands for a couple of days! It sat on our counter for a week or so in a bowl before we finally tossed them because they were shedding needles on our counter/appendages.
